Footlite Musicals enters tech week of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and I’ll be popping in to see what they’re up to now that full lights and costumes are ready to roll. There are still tickets available for the second weekend of their run at footlite.org.
A bit of sad news in the Indy theatre world reached us this week. Theatre Unchained had planned to open Coping with Autumn on the 14th and I was excited to shoot promo shots with them next week. Unfortunately, they’ve made the difficult decision to postpone production until May due to the oncoming storm of Covid-19.
As a related observation, it has been extremely impressive to observe how the local theatre community has responded with such resiliency, creativity and dedication during this pandemic. Theatre Unchained, realizing that they couldn’t safely continue, made the tremendous sacrifice to simply push back the product of months of work to later in the year. At Footlite Musicals, their protocols and processes adapt on a daily basis in accordance with CDC guidelines. Putting together a stage production in the best of times is a monumental task. Doing so during a global pandemic safely and in accordance with ever-shifting rules from state and local governments… simply incredible.
